Jacques and his master

based on Milan Kundera's only play

Drama

After being cancelled last April, the show Jacques and his master is back on the bill: produced by Trentino's theatre company Emit Flesti, the title of the play is based on Milan Kundera's only theatrical play.

The comedy, an explicit homage to the Czech playwright himself and to Denis Diderot, was written in Prague after the Soviet army invaded Czechoslovakia. In order to pass the time during a long journey, a late 18th century French nobleman and his valet decide to tell each other about their love affairs, including betrayals, disappointments, jokes, revenge and regrets about their relationships.

On stage, the six actors take turns in the roles of eighteen characters, creating a scenic dance that praises the joy, at times painful, that runs through the love affairs of each of us. A journey without departure or destination, between light-heartedness and moving liveliness, to learn not to take ourselves too seriously.
