Love

With this new show, Ligurian actor and theatre director Pippo Delbono tries to bring something that communicates Amore | Love back into the theatre, the deep feeling it is indeed, by choosing Portugal as a starting point, a land characterised by a profoundly melancholic, poignant, elegiac imagery. A place of passion and nostalgia, but also of death.

After everybody's long period of suffering, it is precisely a place like Portugal that can turn out to be pleasant, where even nostalgia, sadness, in their deep-rootedness, welcome the opportunity to encounter that totally human quality that is Love.

"After all what has happened, let's start again from here, from this incessant search, let's continue with more Love; otherwise we will go back to where we were beforehands, and a terrible experience like this will have been for nothing," Delbono observes. " Let's go back to where we were, but with a new awareness; let's go back to a time when that word had its own meaning, a time - and a place - when people loved each other and spoke of love with the nostalgia of fado, pushing away the cumbersome presence of death.
