MMContemporary Dance Company - Duo d’Eden and Pastorale

Two celebratory debuts: MM Contemporary Dance Company of Michele Merola, noteworthy company of our dance panorama, is back for the InDanza Season with two "premières".

The programme celebrates Ludwig van Beethoven, in the year of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of his birth, with Merola's Pastorale: the Sixth Symphony by the German genius, performed live in the transcription for two pianos by the virtuoso Guarino brothers, is a cue to build new 'bucolic' dances for the nine members of the company, to investigate form and freedom, rhythmic tension and lyricism.

The event also celebrates Maguy Marin, French choreographer - Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival - with Eden, world première.

Inspired by the Bible, this duet from the piece “Eden” conjures up Adam  and Eve at the dawn of humanity. In a mineral desert landscape two  bodies, as if naked, advance onto the stage holding tightly onto one  another. A man and a woman, whose bodies attract and attach themselves  to each other. Her: a curling, entwining vine. Him: always holding her,  holding her back, holding her up. A series of coverings, unfurlings and  surrender to the gravity which makes this duet a truly physical  performance
