Meet the artwork

The Education of the Virgin

Meetings and conferences

On Wednesday 8 May, a new "Meet the artwork" event is back at the Buonconsiglio Castle.

On the occasion of Mother's Day, the 18th-century painting depicting the Education of the Virgin by Trentino painter Gaspare Antonio Baroni Cavalcabò will be the focus on this fourth event.

This is the preparatory sketch for the altarpiece painted in the mid-18th century for the church of San Giovanni Battista in Sacco di Rovereto and depicts the Education of the Virgin, that is, St. Anne teaching the Holy Scriptures to her daughter Mary, in an evocative candlelight setting, in the presence of St. Joachim.

Museum curators Roberto Pancheri and Dario De Cristofaro will present the work from an art-historical perspective, then an educationist will update the painting by talking about education and speech therapy in the present day.

Double appointment, at 17.30 and 19.00, followed by a tasty aperitif in the gardens of the museum cafe.

Costs

€ 8 (aperitif is included)

Seats are limited seats, reservations required. Tickets can be purchased online or at the museum's box office from 10.00 to 17.30.
