Metaformism Action©

Conceived and curated by art historian Giulia Sillato

exhibition

The exhibition, set up according to innovative canons by the Giulia Sillato Foundation in Verona, aims to communicate a new artistic philosophy through the works of seven living artists, identified among the most significant ones on the national art scene: far from any form of amateurism, they have cultivated the plastic arts with seriousness and continuity, making it the objective of their existence.

Aware of the need to restore a theoretical foundation to non-figurative painting, distorted by savage market operations, they took to the field (hence "Action") to support a new visual theory that combines art and philosophy: Metaformism©. Elaborated by Giulia Sillato, an art historian of the Longhi school (Roberto Longhi), it tends to replace the traditional term Abstractionism with a new term (Metaphorism©) that better highlights all the expressive potential of contemporary non-figurative painting without crystallising non-figurative processes within a schema: Abstractionism.

The investigations that the author carries out can demonstrate how, after a short campaign, Abstractionism would cease to run its course, leaving as a legacy to the artists of future generations only the lesson of loosening the inhibitory brakes in the creative moment, in order to indulge in absolute freedom of language.

Metaphorism© is a new key that delves into all possible meanings of FORM. Metaformism© restores a theoretical principle to non-figurative painting and gives unity to the various languages with which it expresses itself, thus becoming a modern evolution of the concepts of group, current or movement of artists.
