Nelson

Drama

script and direction Giuseppe di Bello

with Marco Continanza

Written and directed by Giuseppe Di Bello, and starring Marco Continanza, "NELSON" is the story of a great man who fought the injustices of apartheid in South Africa and paid the consequences personally with twenty-seven long years of imprisonment, but who eventually triumphed by defeating that racially discriminatory policy and becoming his country's first black head of state.

The apartheid harassed him, his family and his people, and finally locked him up in a prison on a small island in the middle of the ocean for his ideas alone, for 27 long years. A condition that not only failed to break him but, what is more incredible, seems to have given him the opportunity to come up with a deep humanity, which has allowed him to join the great spirits of human history.

Tracing the life of one of the most influential figures of the last century, from his childhood to his election as President of his nation, Giuseppe Di Bello has staged the story of a man who believed that no one is born hating another because of the colour of their skin, their history or their religion. Simply because people learn to hate. And if they can learn to hate, then they can also be taught to love. For human nature, love is a more natural feeling than hate.
