Symbolism and New Objectivity. The Galleria del Levante

The Mart is dedicating an exhibition to the Galleria del Levante and its founder Emilio Bertonati, who was a leading figure on the Italian scene in the 1960s and 1970s and promoted a number of new artistic trends, from Symbolism to Magic Realism, from Neue Sachlichkeit to German Expressionism, as well as some of his contemporary artists. Daring, perseverance and constant research characterised all his activity.
The exhibition traces the history of the Gallery, which was active between 1962 and 1981, through the works chosen by Bertonati, which now belong to important private and public collections.
