The Blue Danube

Music

Brought to the stage by the Compagnia Corrado Abbati, with live music performed by the Orchestra of Trento's Bonporti Conservatory.

Adapted and directed by Abbati himself, the opera was written just over 150 years ago by Johan Strauss son, and soon became the manifesto of an entire era.

More than just a waltz, The Blue Danube is the symbol of a myth that still lives on and is renewed generation after generation. It is an expression of good humour, of the will to live, to party.

It is a show full of joy and good humour, which are typical characteristics of one of the most important expressions of that era: the operetta.

To the music of Strauss, Lehàr, Kàlmàn and Abraham, Corrado Abbati stages a show where the rhythm of the narration and the harmony of the melodic cues unite and blend, in a sequence of cheerful and carefree episodes, the stylistic features of the typical theatrical expressions of the period: from comedy to operetta, from dance music to opera.
