The Cimbrian Highlands during the Great War

exhibition

For several years the Luserna Documentation Centre has organised exhibitions devoted to history, nature and ethnography for a wide audience, complementing the museum’s permanent exhibitions.

The Documentation Centre’s main exhibition for 2016 is The Cimbrian Highlands during the Great War - Da zimbar Hoachebene in Earst Bèltkriage.
The exhibition’s main aim is to document the situation of the Cimbrian minority, understood in the broadest sense of the term (Austro-Hungarian Cimbrians and Italian Cimbrians divided by a state line) before, during and after the Great War. The theme of the First World Waris examined with a general description of the causes and reasons for the outbreak of the conflict in 1914, the entry of Italy in 1915 and a close look at the local Cimbrian Plateaus, particularly at the logistical-environmental, socio-economic, cultural and political situations.
The exhibition also illustrates the evolution of the war industry through a varied display of original objects and weapons, as well as featuring 360° dioramas which reconstruct the environments where the soldiers lived and fought.
