The Great War and the dissolution of a multinational empire
Convention on the centenary of Cesare Battisti’s death

To mark the centenary of Cesare Battisti’s death, Fondazione Caritro has organised a conference entitled The Great War and the Dissolution of a Multinational Empire to be held at Trento’s Castle Buonconsiglio on Thursdays 29 and Friday 30 September.
The conference will revolve around three major themes that will also form the core of three sessions:
- First session: The national question in the management of a "Great War"
- Second Session: The Great War and the Italians of Austria
- Third Session: The war and the nationality of the empire
The first session will be held in the afternoon of Thursday September 29, while the second and third will occupy the morning and the afternoon of Friday 30 September. The high calibre speakers in attendance ranges from local historians to Italian and European academics.
The conference is organised by Fondazione Caritro with the participation of the FBK-ISIG Italian-German Historical Institute, the Fondazione Museo Storico del Trentino, the Trentini Società di Studi Trentini di Scienze Storiche and the Accademia Roveretana degli Agiati, with the collaboration of IPRASE and Buonconsiglio Castle.
The convention can be registered as training for Trento Province teaching staff.
The conference is part of the programme of initiatives coordinated by the Trentino Committee for the Commemoration of the Centenary of the Great War on the occasion of the centenary of the deaths of the irredentists Battisti, Chiesa and Filzi.
