The Merry Widow

The three-act operetta The Merry Widow by the Austro-Hungarian composer Franz Lehár will be performed at the Teatro Sociale on Thursday 14 February in an original way.

In fact, the Corrado Abbati Acting company has set the operetta in the happiest, most optimistic and carefree moment in the life of our country and of the whole of Europe: the years of the economic boom, when, between the mid 50s and the beginning of the 60s of the twentieth century, the continent experienced an exceptional phase of expansion that had been never known before.

As a matter of fact, the “economic miracle” will become Mrs Glavari's miracle: this Merry Widow will alone restore optimism in a small European country.
