The art of falconry at the Stenico Castle

The “DiCastelincastello” festival, curated by the Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara, proposes three weekends devoted to the theme of hunting at Castel Stenico, from 6 August

Other

Falconry is the art of hunting with a falcon. Its origins are very ancient and the first evidence comes from an area of Central Asia between China and Mongolia. From here it then spread to Europe and Asia Minor.
As far as Italy is concerned, falconry arrived from Sicily (thanks to the Arabs and Normans), as well as from Germany.

The “DiCastelincastello” festival, curated by the Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara, proposes three weekends devoted to the theme of hunting - 6 and 7|13, 14|20, 21|27 and 28 August - which was the favourite hobby of all guests of the summer residence of the Prince bishops. During the day there will be demonstrations of falconry and of training of birds, at 12.00, at 14.00 and at 16.00.

Visitors will be helped to get to know the birds of prey present in our territory, which are unfortunately at risk of extinction due to the constant threat posed by man and the environment.

Costs

The performances are free of charge (with admission ticket to the castle)
