Refugees, Flüchtlinge, Uprchlíci. 1914-1919 - Lavarone

exhibition , Photographic exhibition

An exhibition dedicated to the story of refugees from Trentino in the First World War by the Laboratorio di Storia di Rovereto, in collaboration with the Fondazione Museo Civico di Rovereto and the Museo Storico Italiano della Guerra, and the contribution of the Servizio Attività Culturali of the Provincia Autonoma di Trento, the Comune di Rovereto and the Comunità della Vallagarina.

The exhibition includes photos, letter and diary extracts, specially prepared maps and tables, and paintings, along with scrapbooks, postcards and the crumpled sheets of letters (as well as letters written on tree bark), trunks, refugee camp registers and objects brought back by refugees from their exile.
A map of forced population movements in Europe during the Great War, developed by researchers at the University of Trento, will offer a continental overview of the refugee phenomenon for the first time, a situation that immediately assumed a massive scale never recorded before the First World War. This scenario has been repeated endlessly from the twentieth century until today, as evidenced by the news in recent months.
