Luserna Documentation Centre has reopened

With two new exhibitions, a new season has started

The Luserna Documentation Centre welcomes visitors, after having reached 12.000 visits in 2018.

Besides the various museum rooms, dedicated to historical and naturalistic themes, here are two new exhibitions entitled "Fratello Lupo" ("Brother Wolf") and "1919. Il ritorno dei profughi ("1919. The return of the refugees").

The first exhibition completes the path dedicated to the return of the wolf, which opened last year, and it recounts the alliance between man and dog, the latter being a descendant of the wild wolf. Today the dog is no longer just a pet or a guardian, but also a fundamental ally of man in many intervention areas (civil protection, fight against drug trafficking, people's rescue). Through a museum experience which is particularly suitable for children and young people, this exhibition tells the many reasons why dogs are great and valuable social resource.

The second exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Trentino's refugees, in particular the refugees from Luserna, who just a century ago, at the beginning of 1919, returned to the countries from which they had been removed years earlier because of the conflict between Austria and Italy. Through evocative archive images, several of which have never been seen

The other permanent rooms of the Museum recount the origin and traditions of the Cimbrian Community, the fauna of the Highlands (through wonderful dioramas), and aspects of prehistoric metallurgy. In addition to all this, the exhibition "Alphabet of the Great War" is an evocative reflection on the First World War, using names and objects of some soldiers, who are symbols of a collective tragedy.

The Museum is every day from 30 March to 3 November 2019 from 10.00 to 12:30 and from 14.00 to 18.00. In August, from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 14.00 to 18.30.

From 29 June to 1 September, the Casa Museo “Haus von Prükk” and “Rheo Martin Pedrazza” picture gallery will also be open to visitors.

Besides the Museum, Luserna also offers themed paths which are inspired by the Cimbrian tradition (“Sulle tracce dell’orso”, “Sentiero della Grande Guerra – Dalle storie alla Storia”, “Sentiero cimbro dell’immaginario”, “Sentiero della Primavera”).
