Contemporary Art Day at the MART

The 17th Day of Giornata del Contemporaneo - Italian Contemporary Art, the great event organized annually by AMACI (with the support of the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) to bring the art of our era to the general public will be held on Saturday, 11 December 2021.
On this occasion, the MART (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Rovereto) and the Casa d'Arte Futurista Depero (Depero Futurist House of the Arts ) of Rovereto, and the Galleria Civica (Civic art gallery )of Trento will welcome visitors with free admission from 10.00 to 18.00.
At the Mart at 18.00 artist Giovanni Morbin will perform the famous "Me" action for the last time.
The show is inspired by the well-known sculpture by Renato Bertelli "Profilo continuo di Mussolini" | Continuous Portrait of Mussolini (1933), a copy of which is kept at the Mart.
The work depicts the head of the Duce that ideally rotates on its own axis, drawing in space a continuous and circular profile that - going beyond the very limits of the image - gives the portrait dynamism and perenniality. Giovanni Morbin couples Bertelli's futurist iconography with the declaration of war by Mussolini in 1940.
The result is a tragicomic action that, besides proposing itself as a refined reflection on the relationship between image and reality, strips war rhetoric of all exaltation, bringing it back to a level of sarcastic truth.
Free admission until all available seats are taken
