International Museum Day 2019

Cultural exhibitions and events

Since 1977, ICOM (International Council of Museums) has been organising the International Museum Day (IMD) around the world, by selecting each year a theme that is at the heart of the concerns of society.

The museums joining the initiative plan events and activities related to the chosen theme and draw in their audience; as a result they enhance the important role of museums as institutions at the heart of society, which have the power to establish dialogue between cultures, to build bridges for a peaceful world and to define a sustainable future.

The events and activities planned to celebrate this anniversary are organized every year around 18 May, and can last a day, a weekend or a whole week.

The museums taking part in the event in Trentino, which welcome visitors with a special price admission ticket, are the following:

Friday 17 May 2019, at 17.30: Presentation of the new didactic supports of the Early Christian Basilica of Saint Vigilius - Museo Diocesano Tridentino, tapestry room;

Another unmissable event is the FABLAB BIGFest at the MUSE- Science Museum:

Two days of conferences, music and showcase of the Central Europe FabLab Network. From 9.00 on Saturday 18 May you are welcome at the MUSE and at the Palazzo delle Albere for an international event on the impact of FabLabs in Business, Education and Communities.
