At the beginning of May, on the days of the anniversary of Robert Schuman’s Declaration, which began the process of European integration, the Foundation Alcide De Gasperi gathers and welcomes the children of the primary school of Pieve Tesino to celebrate this year’s Europe Day.

This celebration is the closing event of a project the children carried over the previous few weeks, when they delved deeper into different topics connected with the history of Europe, and to various meaning of being - and feeling - European.

This year the project’s starting point was the centenary of the end of the First World War: by observing vintage prints, children were made to reflect on the material and immaterial consequences of war, and to realize how peace is a real necessity, as expressed in Schuman’s very first statements.
