Several museums in Trentino offer free admission on the International Women's Day

On 8 March several museums in Trentino offer free admission for women on the International Women's Day.

Here is a list of the museums that have informed us, though probably some others will join the initiative of the Ministry of Heritage, Cultural Activities and Tourism:

the SASS, Spazio Archeologico Sotterraneo del Sas (Tridentum. S.A.S.S. - Underground Archaeological Site SASS) in Trento, under Piazza Cesare Battisti;

the Buonconsiglio Castle;

the Mart (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) of Rovereto, as well as at the Casa d’arte futurista Depero (Depero Futurist House of the Arts) and the Galleria Civica of Trento (Civic art gallery);

the Museo diocesano tridentino (the Tridentine diocesan museum);

the Rovereto civic museum foundation.

Underneath the historic centre of Trento we find the ancient Roman city of Tridentum, the splendidum municipium, as it  was defined by the Emperor Claudius in 46 AD.

Mart - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Rovereto - Rovereto

Futurism, Pop Art, Realism and great exhibitions: Mart in Rovereto is one of the most interesting museums on the Italian scene. It was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, with the collaboration of Rovereto-based engineer Giulio Andreolli. Every year the Museum holds one large exhibition and several temporary shows, and provides a range of interesting educational activities.

Buonconsiglio Castle

The Buonconsiglio Castle is the largest and most important monumental complex of the Trentino Alto Adige region. It was the residence of the prince-bishops of Trento from the 13th century to the end of the 18th century. Castelvecchio is the oldest nucleus; the Magno Palazzo is the 16th century expansion and is one of the most sumptuous Renaissance-style palaces in Italy.
