Italian industrial pioneer Gianni Caproni (Arco 1886 - Roma 1957) devoted his life and career to the newly-born aeronautic industry. At the turn of XX century, Caproni created an internationally renowned aircraft plant, which was particularly active and successful during the 20s and 30s. In 1927, he founded the first Italian company museum dedicated to the national aviation history and tradition. In 1992, following an agreement between the Caproni family and the Autonomous Province of Trento, the new “Gianni Caproni Museum of Aeronautics” was inaugurated in Arco. The museum, which covers an area of more than 1,400 square meters, owns a world-class collection of aircrafts and historical pieces, all gathered by the Caproni family.
The exhibition hall houses some twenty historical aircrafts (nine of which are unique pieces) and hundreds of historical items. The design studio of the aeronautic pioneer Gianni Caproni and a portion of the propeller shop of the Caproni plant have been recreated at the museum. The Museum’s mission is to promote the spread and public understanding of science and technology. Particular attention is given to technological innovations and to the latest results and achievements of Trentino research.

The museum is part of Rete Trentino Grande Guerra , which promotes the collaboration between those who cultivate the passion for the history and recollection of those happenings.
