2 September: Sunday at the museum

Free admission to Trentino’s Provincial Museums on the first Sunday of every month.

By means of the Province’s Council Decision no. 1496/2015 (September 2015), Trentino offers visitors free admission to its so-called Provincial Museums, on the first Sunday of every month, and on Trentino’s Autonomy Day (5 September, every year).

The Provincial Museums are the following:

Muse (Science Museum), with the exhibition Genoma umano. Quello che ci rende unici (Human genome. What makes us unique), looks at questions profoundly affecting us all that are today the subject of important and promising biological research;

nearby, at Palazzo delle Albere“Giardini ritrovati. Spazi e caratteri delle architetture verdi in Trentino” (“Rediscovered Gardens. Spaces and features of green architecture in Trentino) is a multimedia itinerary that describes the peculiarities of the typical garden of Trentino. It can be visited until 2 September.

Mart - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Rovereto, which includes the Casa d’arte futurista Depero; the first museum hosts until Sunday 2 September the exibition Viaggio in Italia: I paesaggi dell’Ottocento dai Macchiaioli ai Simbolisti (Italian Journey 19th-Century Landscapes from the Macchiaioli to the Symbolists); the latter hosts Manu propria. Il segno calligrafico come opera d'arte (Manu propria. The Calligraphic Mark as Work of Art);

Castello del Buonconsiglio (Buonconsiglio Castleand, for the latter’s other five sites, see  their respective opening season and times: Castel Thun, Castel Beseno, Castello di Stenico, Castel Caldes;

and the Museo degli usi e costumi della gente trentina (Trentino Folklife Museum).

In addition to them, also the museums run by the Department for Cultural Heritage offer free admission:

S.A.S.S. Spazio Archeologico Sotterraneo del Sas - Tridentum (Tridentum S.A.S.S. - Underground Archaeological Site SASS);

the Museo diocesano tridentino hosts Nostalghia. Viaggio tra i cristiani d'Oriente (Nostalghia. Journey among the Christians of the East), a photographic exhibition, testimony to almost three years of Linda Dorigo and Andrea Milluzzi’sjourney among the Christian communities of nine states in the Middle East (Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Syria and Turkey);

not to be missed is also the exhibition L'ultimo anno:  1917-1918 (The final year: 1917-1918), hosted at the Gallerie di Piedicastello  in Trento.

the Museo delle Palafitte di Fiavé (Fiavè Pile dwelling Museum) ,

and the Museo Retico (Rhaetian Museum) of Sanzeno;  

It’s an unmissable opportunity, since museums often schedule exhibition openings or other interesting events on the first Sunday of every month.
